Joliet pumps from wells 1,000 feet down. The city rates its own water at 22 grains per gallon east of Midland Avenue and 12 west of it. Both sides count as "very hard" on the USGS scale. It is disinfected with chloramine, and the 2023 report shows radium samples as high as 7.18 pCi/L against a legal limit of 5.

The standard package includes a salt-based softener, carbon filtration, an under-sink RO system, and standard installation. Your written quote confirms equipment sizing, tax, permits, warranty, and any additional plumbing work before booking. Extra treatment for private wells or unusual installation requirements is quoted separately.
Do I need a softener or a filter?
They do different jobs. Softeners reduce hardness minerals; carbon filters address chlorine taste and odor; RO treats drinking water at the kitchen sink. We review your water source and test information to determine which are useful for your home.
Can you work with private well water?
Well water needs a current water test. Iron, sulfur, bacteria, or other concerns may need additional treatment beyond the standard bundle. We confirm suitability and pricing before recommending equipment.
What maintenance will the system need?
A salt-based softener needs salt refills. Carbon media, RO filters, and membranes need replacement on the equipment manufacturer’s schedule. Your quote and system walkthrough explain the requirements.
